SPOILER SAFE OF SUPERMAN AND FANTASTIC FOUR

So. They’re out. The two big superhero movies of the summer. Lots of people were skeptical with how they would turn out. Not because of the directors, but the track record of the marvel and dc universe on the big screen. How did they fare in the over critical world of cinema?

Not bad at all, actually!

Out of all four (pun intended) Fantastic Four movies, this one performed the best! Having watched the movie last night, it was not a disappointing watch!! Superman also performed really well too, one reason being is it kinda serves as an official start of DC Studios movies! There was Blue Beetle as well, but I feel like DC promoted this one as the big start! The fact that more comic accurate looking movies are being released, makes the theater experience even more enjoyable.

This can be said for both movies too. Superman and Fanfastic Four seemed to take heavy inspiration from the comic books. From the story to the outfits, they bring you into the universe by not missing any detail in the design. Plus the colors are so vibrant in both movies, and sometimes that can enhance the experience too. Bright colors can be associated with good feelings. Superman’s suit, filled with blues, reds, and yellows, has all primary colors, which stand out and bring each other out. AND color wheel wise, they match with Superman too!

With Fantastic Four, their whole thing is family, so all their suits match. They all have that light blue shade with white, silver, and black accents. While the color wheel might not go with the movie, each character’s powers can reflect that individual. The way Reed stretches himself to his limits, Sue always is transparent and authentic with people, Ben holds the team on his shoulders, and Johnny’s personality is just, well, fiery. They’re each so different, but they come together, as one family, hence the matching suits!

Not only are both movies visually appealing, but the stories are emotional. They have ups and downs. They have laughs! And each character shown on screen, even if it was just for a second, had even just a little something to give more personality to them. A way for them to make an impact on us.

Here’s the storyline (without spoilers) from IMDB for Superman and Fantastic Four if you haven’t seen them yet, and are curious of the story!

FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS
Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world. [The film follows] Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.

SUPERMAN
When Superman gets drawn into conflicts at home and abroad, his actions are questioned, giving tech billionaire Lex Luthor the opportunity to get the Man of Steel out of the way for good. Will intrepid reporter Lois Lane and Superman’s four-legged companion, Krypto, be able to help him before it’s too late?

DC Studios, after Superman, has a HUGE movie lineup to kick off the new franchise. I believe Supergirl is the next film, said to be coming out next year in June!

This poster was released by DC Studios to announce the film online. It seems her story will take place after Superman. So I am very intrigued to see how the stories connect. And Milly Alcock playing Supergirl? From watching her in House of the Dragon as a more serious character, I am so excited to see her play a role in a superhero movie. They’ve also announced movies like The Brave and the Bold (the film that will introduce the DCU’s Batman and Robin), a Teen Titans movie, a Swamp Thing movie, an untitled Clayface project, and a few more that I’m hoping to hear more of soon!

When looking into Marvel’s future, there’s a a couple animated shows coming our way, including Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies. We also have a new series bringing the MCU a new face, Wonder Man! While writing this blog I did a little research since I’d personally never heard of him, and he’s a really powerful character who seems really fun too! We’re also getting Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July of 2026, and Avengers: Doomsday in December of 2026. There’s also Avengers: Secret Wars announced, a Blade series, a new X-Men movie for the MCU, and a lot more! The MCU has no plans on stopping anytime soon. So they better keep delivering with good stuff!

But in the meantime, we have two pretty solid movies in the theaters right now to go watch. They’re both receiving good reviews from critics and audiences. It seems as if the Marvel and DC feud is finally going away. And that makes it for a super fantastic summer. Pun absolutely intended.

Let me know what you thought of the movies if you have seen them, I would love to talk about them more, they haven’t left my brain since watching them!
